Hardtop XP is a polyurethane topcoat with good durability and excellent application properties. It has a durable finish with good colour- and gloss retention. Hardtop XP has an optimised rheology and flow giving it excellent application properties by airless spray, while also being suitable for brush and roller application. Hardtop XP is truly an all-round polyurethane topcoat for both marine and protective structures.
Product Description
This is a 2-component chemically cured aliphatic acrylic polyurethane paint. This product has a glossy finish with very good ball handling ability. This product is a high solids volume percentage paint. The product is easy to apply and causes little dry paint dust. Use as topcoat in atmospheric environments.
Purpose of using
Marine: Recommended for use on freeboards, decks and superstructures.
Industrial: Recommended for marine environments, oil refineries, power plants, bridges and high-rise buildings. Suitable for many types of industrial structures. Used as a finishing coat in NORSOK certified paint systems.

Film thickness of each coat
Dry thickness: 50 – 100 μm.
Wet thickness: 80 – 160 μm.
Theoretical coverage: 12.6 – 6.3 m2/l.
Light colors may need to be applied at maximum thickness to achieve coverage.
Special effect colors may not comply with the specified paint thickness range. Please refer to the Construction Instructions (AG) for further information or contact your nearest Jotun office for instructions.

Surface Preparation
To ensure long lasting adhesion of the next coat, the surface must be clean, dry and free from other contaminants.
Painted surface: compatible paint coat clean, dry and undamaged (ISO 12944-4, 6.1.4)

Jotun Hardtop XP industrial paint products can be applied by
Spray: Use a conventional paint sprayer or a high pressure paint sprayer (airless).
Brush: Recommended for small area and edge patching work. Take care to achieve specified dry film thickness.
Roller: May be used. Care should be taken to achieve the specified dry film thickness.

Drying and curing times are determined under controlled temperature conditions and relative humidity below 85% and at the average dry film thickness of the product.
Surface dry: the dry stage where when lightly pressed on the paint film, it will not leave fingerprints or feel sticky.
Dry to Foot: The minimum time before the paint film can withstand being walked on without leaving marks or damage.
Dry to overcoat, minimum: the shortest recommended time before the next coat can be applied.
Dry/curing for use: minimum time before the paint film can be fully exposed to the use environment/medium.

Storage
This Jotun industrial paint product must be stored in accordance with the safety regulations of each country. Store the product in a dry, cool place, combined with good ventilation, away from heat sources and fire-generating equipment. The product container must be tightly closed. Transport carefully.

Attention
This Jotun Hardtop XP industrial paint product should only be applied by a professional contractor. Painting contractors must be trained, experienced, capable and equipped to apply this type of paint correctly and in accordance with Jotun's technical procedures. Painting contractors must wear appropriate personal protective equipment when using this product. This guide is based on current knowledge of the product. Any changes to suit site conditions must be approved by a Jotun Representative before proceeding.
- Health and Safety
Please follow the precautions stated on the Jotun industrial paint container label . Use in well-ventilated areas. Do not breathe paint dust. Avoid direct contact with skin. In case of contact with skin, wash immediately with detergent, soap and water. Rinse eyes with water and seek medical attention immediately.
- Color variation
When this industrial paint product is used as an anti-rust or anti-fouling layer, the paint film may change slightly in color with each production batch. These products may discolor and become chalky when exposed to sunlight and outdoor weather.
- Exemptions
